Old Mans Beard by maggiemae

Old Mans Beard

Old man's beard (Clematis vitalba) is an invasive plant in New Zealand that has an impact on indigenous biodiversity. It is declared an unwanted organism under the Biosecurity Act 1993 which means it cannot be sold, distributed or propagated. We are supposed to let the Council know if we see it. I haven't as yet. It is just round the corner from me on an abandoned property that has grown up to hide the house within!
Nicely lit and shot!

I think we could probably buy this in the garden centrer, there are so many varieties of clematis for sale there!!! Good if it's hiding the house!!

Regardless of its bad behaviour, it makes for a really good shot.

@happypat this variety apparently strangles every plant around it, Pat! You wouldn't want in your garden!

That's how I feel about our Morning Glories right now, wondering how much they will actually continue to grow and take over our patio

Beautiful capture, Maggiemae. Sounds like it must be very troublesome.

That is so pretty, looks very soft.

Nice looking...but that doesn't mean it can't be a danger...and it may strangle out some of the nicer native plants.
