My goodness gracious me! by maggiemae

My goodness gracious me!

The road was almost blocked off! This was a huge house seemingly all moved together on two trailers and pulled by this monster truck! Where is it going?
What an unusual fine! This looks like an amazing undertaking! You have a fabulous POV of this whole process! Great shot!

Awesome shot

What a great, interesting shot. I always enjoy watching something that large being moved.
March 20th, 2015
the driver better know where he is going.

Wow....what a capture! I have seen a few of these being moved, but nothing this big that it would need to go on two trailers! I always worry about everything being out of whack at the end and cracks occurring on the walls, but I guess it is worth it!

Only in NZ!!!
March 20th, 2015
@panthora I would worry about that too - every little bump in the road! I guess they are ready to adjust it when it ends up in its home!
March 20th, 2015
Did you follow it to find out where it was going? Or is it still there? Crazy experience!
March 20th, 2015
@olivetreeann I haven't been down to find out, Ann. Haven't seen it in the news either!
March 20th, 2015
Goodness gracious this is some house moving maggiemae. I hope it hasn't travelled too far.....those drivers must be very skilled to transport such a large house by road. Interesting seeing the truck & whole sight of this.
March 20th, 2015
Now thats the way to move house, no packing and unpacking boxes for weeks on end ...
March 20th, 2015
@dibzgreasley Ha ha, Debs - is this what is called a 'road trip'?
March 20th, 2015
@happypat Did you notice there were curtains in one of the windows, Pat? Goodness - here they might be both in bed!
March 20th, 2015
I'd love to be able to pick my house up and just move it!
March 20th, 2015
Amazing!
March 20th, 2015
Wow this is fascinating. It's also a great picture and processing
March 20th, 2015
Waaw !! An instant home !! no waiting for it to be built !!! Great capture Maggiemae !
March 20th, 2015
Gosh, thats an impressive sight - love the vintage truck, unbelievable that it can actually move that house - wonder if the house will arrive intact.
March 20th, 2015
Moving house or house moving ?!!!
Good catch
March 20th, 2015
i hope they packed the china and didn't leave any dishes on the table!
March 20th, 2015
Great capture - for a small house to be moved I was quoted NZ$45,000 recently ... I was looking at buying the section next door and putting a rental property on it - but at my age the sums didn't really make sense and besides which, I can't be bothered being a landlady any more.
March 20th, 2015
@snaphappi Being landlords didn't work out for us either! Got diddled all along the way!
March 20th, 2015
Now that is what I call moving
March 20th, 2015
Amazing it stays in one piece, hope it did not fall off
March 21st, 2015
@neatz I daresay there were lots of people organising this sort of shift! I'm in admiration of a feat like this
!
March 21st, 2015
Amazing coordination involved I bet, and in a way much easier than packing boxes and unpacking at the other end
March 21st, 2015
@sharrystar I bet they have no crockery in the kitchen cupboards!
March 21st, 2015
great find and capture

Bev
Nice shot, Maggie. We frequently have moving houses on the roads here. It's not uncommon to be driving down the road and come upon half a house and then you pass that half of the house only to meet up with the other half farther down the road!
March 22nd, 2015
Holy cow! That was an amazing catch.
March 22nd, 2015
What an amazing sight. I like your POV and composition. Before reading the caption, I thought a truck had backed into a house.

Talk about 'moving house'! Great find!
