Up in Auckland wandering along the waterfront and enjoying the scene until I suddenly thought - help I'm supposed to be buying birthday presents for overseas family! No more photos!
@thistle I ended up in the bookstore, Joyce and there was something for everybody there - Dad & Mum, 12 yr old boy and 8 yr old daughter who is a delight!
Interesting title given that the ferry is leaving the frame and the natural focus is on that wavy roof. There is a sweep from right to left (hence on to the ferry) which is very pleasing to my eyes. Love the processing too. Anyway, Maggie, taking photos is much more fun than shopping. Much more serious too, given its ability to release your creativity! Fav!
Can I be contrary Maggiemae - I like the subject and your framing of it very much but your processing doesn't work for me. It doesn't bring out the details of this unusual building and the ferry is lost in the deep blue tone. I am obviously in a minority of one but it was either no comment at all or an honest one. But hey, you can't please everybody all the time... and Mrs S says that I'm harder to please than most!
Like the composition very much, the wavy line of the building that leads the eye to the ferry. I can see what Richard is saying, the dark and light areas separate the shot somewhat. However as we know it's all in the eye of the beholder.
@vignouse I appreciate your honest opinion Richard and would never take offence from someone I know! It just means when you do make a good remark, its an honest one!
Great shot. I like the tone. I didn't notice the ferry until I read someone else's comment because my eyes were attracted to the interesting structure. Just curious - does your camera shoot in RAW and jpeg?
@maggiemae Neither is mine. Mine is similar to yours. I have options on the left when I hit my center button and when I scroll down it has "JPEG" on the side and when I get to that it gives me options to shoot RAW or both. You shoot really great photos as it is, Maggie! You really captured the mood in this shot - especially that sky making it look ominous. I'm so impressed with all of them. I wish I'd have more interesting things to shoot than birds.
love the curves too
