Country Roads by maggiemae

Country Roads

Delightful group of sheep with small lambs on the road in front of us. One wee lamb decided to challenge but the good eye dog had him in his sight. One foot placed carefully in front made the lamb think twice!

This was on a gravel road on the way up to Port Jackson which turned out to be a magnificent beach facing north. We had lunch there - cold sausage and salad and just a drink of water which we prefer to drink during the day!
What a great country scene. Love the working dog giving the eye to the lamb!

This is priceless. I love the idea of the sheep sharing the road with cars, and actually taking over. The little ones are so cute!

Great shot, guess they were a bit surprised to see a car on this road mid week.. it is a beautiful bit of coastline... well worth a visit at Pohutukawa time..

Great capture of the dog at work! I always enjoy it when we get stopped by cows or sheep on the country roads when the farmer is moving them from one field to another. You have caught this beautifully!

This amazed me when we drove through Ireland and encountered this scene many times. Fun, but I guess can be frustrating if in a hurry.

Fun shot- those dogs are so smart and they really understand the sheep too. No little sheep is going to get past him! Good shot!

@busylady Goodness, didn't realise that! thanks!

@summerfield Only about 5 minutes, Vikki. John edged his way forward with me holding my breath for those little inexperienced lambs!

Beautiful green. Shame our sheep here will have to wear sunglasses when they see the green of the fields. Feel so sorry for them. Yet no rain...
October 29th, 2015
@sdutoit Your comment is humorous! I was going to suggest that the Springboks wear sunglasses too but in England that is not needed!

Lovely rural shot. Is it the same in NZ as in the UK that sheep and cows have right or way over vehicles on roads?
October 29th, 2015
Oh, they look adorable.....I would stop for them, anyway, even if they did not happen to be in the middle of the road!! FAV!
