HDR - It's a learning process... Best viewed large!!!
Textures are what attracts me to HDR! It's eye candy times 3!!! This may not be great HDR processing but, it is closer to the shots I've seen Nick (@neeko) do! Nick's shots have LIFE!!! LOL! Okay, I'm playing Dr. Frankenstein here. Hoping I won't put Nick and his coaching me to shame with this one! I might have a really over the top fun shot for tomorrow's pic. I'll have to wait and see.
hi, well love the monkeyball thing, well cool. great dof and focus.
..for me, on a critique - the background has a bit of 'noise' - the sort of fine grainy stuff.. i think you can adjust this on several sliders (obviously they all have an effect on each other.. so worth playing around with diff combinations).
micro smoothing, sturation, shadows all that malarky.. hope that's okay.
What a beautiful find, and the processing makes it even more special. This little gem caught my eye, even in the thumbnail. Love it! One question for you--are you bracketing and stacking the images for processing? I've wanted to try this, but haven't done it yet.
@sleepdozer57 Appreciate the honesty, Peter! The background was a blur when I zoomed in on my subject. Couldn't do much with it though when I wanted my subject the main focus of the HDR. Not sure how to fix that. Will probably have to Photoshop the background to smooth it out. And your comments are just what I need to know! Thank you!
@cmc1200 Thank you! I only have about 15 sweet gum trees in my yard so these balls are everywhere! Yes, I'm using the auto bracketing to merge 3 shots. I thought true HDR required 3 bracketed shots. Hmmm? Are there apps that automatically create 2 bracketed shots from the original? I wonder! Give it a go! You can download Photomatix's free trial version and play with it!
@marlboromaam ..oh the background blur is great, it's the slight grainy that i was getting at.. but anyway, it's all down to what you like, that's just my limited knowledge and very inexperienced point of view!
@sleepdozer57 Peter, your photos are excellent! You have way more experience than I do! I'll see if I can't correct the graininess! Thank you very much!
@cindylou Thank you! No. Yesterday's shot was not HDR. I promised Phil that I would NOT do HDR every day like some folks do! A bit boring - I think! =)
@copperheadglass Thank you, Meredith! The background is too grainy and I will have to see what I can do with that in the future! Appreciate every word you wrote!!!
I think this monkey ball looks alive. And hungry. *takes a step back* Great HDR work! Looks good, not over-the-top at all. Hey, wait, did that thing just move!? 8D
Gorgeous, great, fantastic shot. I thought I commented on your photo today, tonight and did not. Glad I double checked. Sorry about that. Love this photo. I have so much to learn about how you are shooting your photos. I want to learn more and more. I think I will take what you have told me and take more photos on our weekend outings and use the best during the week and play with them and see where I can go with those that I am happy with. Fav
@myautofocuslife LOL! Funny, gal! I've always thought these things looked like monsters up close! Thank you for the comments and the view! I appreciate it very much!
@darsphotos Thank you, Darlene! I am so happy to hear that you're not going to stress over this stuff!!! LOL! You were worrying me for a while there. =) Always have fun and the learning will come!
@twinsplusone Thank you, Sharon! I have PS CS5 but, it's NOT what I'm using for HDR. I'm using Photomatix. You can download a free trial version and try it before you decide whether or not you want to buy. It does more than Photoshop's HDR and it's a little easier to use - just my opinion though!
@neeko I'm working on it, professor! Had two gray and rainy days so no macro shots outside and haven't gotten to town for the water shots yet. Will get outstide today and maybe get to selfies on Sunday! Thank you for checking up on me! Have fun with your baby daughter! =)
@marlboromaam Yay! My dad returned my computer this weekend (he had been removing a virus), and it came back with Photomatix! I'll be working on some HDR next week. Thanks for the info!

Great shot! I love the detail
Excellent lighting , gr8 DOF and love how the monkey ball looks almost 3D.
