The Eastern Kingbird was nicely lighted here by the sun - there are so many neat places down by the walking trail for the birds - so glad he found one instead of the power lines!
@kathiecb I haven't noticed them being aggressive - but only catch them in the early morning while walking - they're usually in single sightings. His head is actually blacker than it appears here - that early light has made it appear browner.
Great lighting and composition. Do you have Eastern Phoebes down there? I'm getting a Phoebe vibe from this bird, and don't see the white tail tips of the Eastern Kingbird. Was it flicking its tail up and down? Phoebes do that.
@annepann Darn, I wish I had concentrated more - I'm not familiar with the Eastern Phoebe but that doesn't mean he isn't here! I do know the tail markings on the Kingbird and I can't remember if I noticed it - he didn't stay put but a few seconds. I'll look up the other and be watching more alertly.
@annepann You most certainly weren't rude - good gracious no. I did look up the Eastern Phoebe and we are at the outer edge of his territory so it's a possibility. They do look quite alike - do wish I'd had a better view of that tail! Going to check my trash in the morning to see if I had any other shots at all (it's on the other computer) that I may have dumped but I don't think so - he didn't stay long enough. I appreciate every bit of assistance I get on 365!
