@shirleybankfarm I know what you mean about the heron leaving - I usually can't get anywhere close - they hear the car door and they're gone - and the car isn't even in sight of the heron yet!

Another beaut. of a capture, great juxtaposition.

We have heron on canals near me in the UK and they are becoming more and more bold. I got chatting to a narrowboater once and he told me he had a heron perched on his boat within a few feet of him on more than one occasion.
