A Little Spray of Sunshine by olivetreeann

A Little Spray of Sunshine

The sun and clouds have been playing tag all day, but it appears the sun has finally won out. Since I couldn't count on the sun most of the day I decided to play around in my computer again. You really can't improve on nature's color pallette when it comes to an Iris or Lily, but you can try! So here's my little spray of sunshine for the day. As I was playing my thoughts drifted to the words of Christ and a conversation I had with my swimming partner this morning about worry:
And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life's span? And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil, nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alvie today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?

I know its easy to be anxious with the uncertainty of the times- economic instabilty, natural disasters, and unrest around the world. But in it all I know God cares for me, and He won't leave my side. If He cares enough to paint an Iris like a ray of sunshine that brings me joy, then He cares even more to be a part of my world, whether the sun shines or not.
Well said! Spread that sunshine!

@olivetreeann Thank you Ann! I shouldn't have whined about my run in with that very rude man...I guess I just need thicker skin, but he did bring my "God" into the matter, which really made me mad!

A magnificent flower. Why is it so hard for us to have trust that God will provide? i guess we have been taught since childhood that God helps those who help themselves, and of course "Self Reliance" is an American virtue as Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote so many years ago. It is a constant struggle but maybe one day we will have enough faith to appreciate what has been given to us freely.

@allie912 Thanks Allison- yes, so true. I also think that it has to do with the battle that goes on between our "flesh" and our "spirit". It's only when we walk with or yield to The Spirit, that we can let go of those earthly things and the feelings that go with them.
