The amazing almond is one of the healthiest nuts you'll ever know. It's good for your brain because it contains nutrients which help in its development. It regulates your cholesterol by increasing the lipoproteins that are good for you and decreasing the ones that aren't. The almond is GREAT for your heart. The monosaturated fat, protein and potassium contained in almonds as well as Vitamin E, magnesium, and folic acid all play a part in making your heart healthy. The Vitamin E in almonds is also good for your skin. The potassium and low sodium level of almonds helps regulate blood pressure and since almonds help to reduce the rise in your sugar and insulin levels after a meal, they also reduce your risk of diabetes! Yes, this little nut is a powerhouse when it comes to health!
@beachradish Thanks Beachradish. It's part of the word list for the April A Challenge. I made up the list and posted it under themes and competitions. I wanted to choose words that were common enough but different, so that's how we ended up with the word almond.
I keep telling myself I need to eat more nuts... perhaps your pic and information will motivate me to actually find some! Nice colours and contrasts in your pic!
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian- sorry to hear about the allergy! @potsbypam Thanks Pam! @filsie65 Thanks Phil! Believe it or not- the background is my kitchen sink! @boogie Thanks Mags! I was going for something just a little different from the typical nut shot- hence the nibble. @alia_801 Thanks Alia- yes you should if your diet is vegetarian. It's a great way for you to get your protein. @peterdegraaff Thanks Peter. It's part of the word list for the month- and a great way to find new things to shoot. @cimes1 Thanks Carole! Good for you! Nuts are rich in protein! @bruni Thanks Bruni- excellent! You'll live to be 100! @sgoodin1 Thanks Sara- oh well! I know there's some health benefit to other nuts too. @nicolecampbell lol Nicole! I like them that way too!
okay, i know for sure that i left a comment on this last night. where did it go again? i wrote something like "someone bit on your almond". something's going on around here. or maybe i'm having another 'sometimer' attack.
@sangwann Thanks Dione! @summerfield Thanks Vikki! I honestly don't remember seeing it- but you know, there's been a couple nights where I've been looking at pictures late and I'm nodding off as I type in my comments! The next day I worry about what I wrote- maybe it made no sense- but I can't remember whose pictures I was looking at!
@kerristephens thanks Kerri!
@karenann thanks Karenann- good idea!
@kimmistephens thanks Kimmi!
@allie912 thanks Allison! I need to add them to my shopping list too- I'm almost out!
