What a beautiful day we had today!! Perfect weather for driving to Buttermilk Falls to take a picture of the old stone bridge which coincidentally has a beautiful arch for today's April A Challenge word.
how do you do this 'painting' like effect? i like it! beautiful and engaging shot, too. makes me feel like getting that checked blanket and the picnic basket, and just laze around in that green grass.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @mrssmith Thank you Carla! This is a surprising spot. It looks like it's in the middle of a beautiful park, but actually the intersection of two main roads is only yards away! However, you cannot hear the cars because there are also some very lovely waterfalls right next to the bridge. @sanera Thank you Samantha! @nicolekos Thank you Nicole! I live in an area of contradictions. We have some beautiful woods, waterfalls, mountains and farmlands all with in a 15 minute driving distance. But there are also supermarkets, resorts and shopping malls within the same radius! I prefer the natural attractions and am glad that many of them will remain protected because they are part of our national park system. @kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi! @summerfield Thank you Vikki- yes, and just beyond the bridge are some lovely waterfalls to serenade you while you dine! @rhubbard Thank you Richard!
@summerfield@rhubbard I used iPiccy for the post processing on this shot. I applied just a hint of saturation to get the colors as I saw them. After that I used their version of the HDR effect at its lowest level. Since the HDR dulled the colors a little, I put just a touch of vibrance back in the shot. But basically what you see here is from the HDR effect more than anything else. Most editing sites have an HDR effect but most of them don't look real. So far, I have not found any as good as iPiccy's, and it's free!
@digitalrn Thank you Rick. It was really the perfect day to go there! @gennygenny Thank you Genny! This is iPiccy.com 's version of HDR and I really like it. Best of all it's free.
Gorgeous pov, Ann. Love the setting .. great colors and beautiful processing. What app did you use for this? Do you still use picnik? I will definitely be at a loss when they pull out .. haven't found one yet that I can use as well or does what picnik does for me.
This is a beautiful spot and I love your processing. I got a message from my publisher saying that'd got my email and would reply within 24 hours. Thanks for your patience.
@tklein Thanks Tina! @karenann Thanks Karenann. Use Picmonkey to replace your basic Picnik processing. It's started by folks who used to work on Picnik. The layout is slightly different but all the Picnik staples are there and they continue to add things weekly. I only use iPiccy for one or two effects. But I don't find it that hard to use. But you'll like Picmonkey I think. @tanja_1211 Thanks Tanja! @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie- no problem! @twinsplusone Thanks Sharon!
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! @ellimae Thank you Ellen! Photographs, like looks, can be deceiving! There are two major roads within yards of this lovely little spot, and a rather large building which I think was once a hotel and restaurant. It's now part of a resort complex and used for conferences and business- not as appealing as it may have been in the past when this bridge was probably constructed as part of the grounds. It's still quite pretty, but you'd be surprised as to what is close by! @filsie65 Thanks Phil! The Falls are quite pretty but a lot of people don't even notice them. Two major roads run by them, but I don't think they're ever noticed! @sangwann Thanks Dione! @alia_801 Thank you Alia! @peterdegraaff Thank you Peter! @sgoodin1 Thank you Sara! Well, we're a few degrees latitude south of you, so hang in there. In a couple weeks it'll be Spring for you too! @allie912 Thanks Allison- it really is! But hidden in plain sight! @nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole!
