Today's question was, "What did you do in the afternoon?" Today Dianne and I made our way to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. We spent hours wandering through the different galleries and I'm sure you'll be seeing many of the shots I took here. But for starters, this shot truly captures our time in the museum. Here's Dianne taking a shot on one of the paintings. The fun thing about this though, is that the statue behind her is in the painting! Do you see it? (And for those of you who might be wondering, photography is allowed here as long as it does not involve the use of your flash.)
@salza Thanks Sally- yes it was great to be able to take shots of the paintings and other art pieces. As long as you don't publish them, it's alright. @kandernob It's a beautiful museum and the galleries are long and winding with so much to see. I really got a kick out of this statue and painting matching! @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @paulavdmerwe Thanks Paula! @henrir Thanks Henri! @groovygirlrn Thanks Sheri! @prttblues Thanks Bev! This was an awesome gallery and museum. Oh and that woman is Dianne, the friend who treated me to this awesome vacation! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! @tanja_1211 Thank you Tanja! I guess you really can't beat the lighting in a museum (unless you're shooting through glass!) @mrssmith Thanks Carla. It was a beautiful place. @wenbow Thank you Wendy!
@daisy I believe the museum purposely put the two together. In fact, they may have even been done by the same artist. I forgot to take a picture of the placard so that I would remember it! Yes, as long as you do not use flash and do not break copy right law by selling them, you can take as many personal shots as you want.
I was, in fact, going to ask if they allow you to take shots there - many museums don't. I sneek a snap or two everynow and then when nobody's looking. Love the clarity and composition of this shot. I thought the statue was reflected in a mirror.
@sangwann Yes, they do allow you too, which was really great. But it can only be for personal use and without flash. Some of the lighting makes it difficult for you to get a head on shot, but all in all, it's really great to be able to photograph the pieces.
You ladies had quite a few nice choices for pictures there. I remember taking photo's in a museum and beeing told not to. very embarrassing feeling. ho about the coincidence with the statue behind her and the painting. great take Ann.
@bruni Thanks Bruni- you're right- most museums do not allow you to take photographs even without the flash, so it was great that the MFA did. I'm pretty sure that this statue was placed here on purpose (or that the painting was) because they are the same subject matter. In fact if you were able to see the detail of the painting, it shows a woman and several other people milling around and looking at the statue in a museum. I was glad I caught Dianne snapping a picture of it. They say art imitates life, but in this shot, art is imitating life is imitating art is imitating life. lol
