I'm pleased to say my first venture into organizing a photo walk was successful. I wasn't expecting a huge crowd, but I wasn't sure who would come either! But four folks showed up and two decided to go off on their own, while the two others and I decided to check out a different part of the trail than originally planned. We had a great time and the rain held off until later in the afternoon. The sun was out, the air warm, and our cameras were ready. So now I will be scouting out a place for June's get-together.
As I had promised my friend Vince that I'd use his loaner this week, I took the bulk of my shots with it today. But I was disappointed to find when I uploaded them, I'd somehow gotten a smudge on the lens! I don't know how I did that, but I will be more careful to check it from now on! Thankfully I also too some shots with my own camera today- so not all the pictures are a total loss!
That sounds like such a good idea! I know how the lens thing can mess you up. For almost a year my camera had one spot inside the lens. I had no money to replace it then so I used the computer to retouch it every time.
Such a wonderful scene. I would love to take a walk through there (with or without camera!). It is just so nice getting together with like minded people and go on a photo walk.
Wonderful shot. The last time I went on a photo walk was with my son Jean-Pierre and son-in-law, Ian and we too had a great time. I would join you if I were there because the place looks gorgeous for walking.
Beautiful shot of this woodsy setting. A photo walk sounds like fun. I plan to do that sometime by myself (or maybe when one of the grandkids come to visit) on a 2 mile nature trail that's pretty close to where we live.
Thank you to all! It was a good day and now I'm looking forward to next month.
@pandorasecho Thankfully this was just a thumb print on the outside of the lens. You can see it on the left leg of the fellow dressed in black. I decided to leave it as it was rather than trying to figure out how to disguise it.
@dibzgreasley LOL with 3 photographers there were A LOT of stops!!
@sangwann You would absolutely love this trail Dione- it is mostly flat and runs along the river the entire length. Sometimes you can see it, and other times, as in this section, it is slightly hidden by the trees.
@cimes1 That sounds lovely Carole and two miles is a nice length.
@digitalrn Yes, he gave me his email and I sent one off to both of you. It's a new email address for me, so make sure you change your records if you saved the last one.
@maggiemae It is a great trail and flat most of the time- so it's perfect for me. The trees here are gorgeous but you can see they've taken a beating thanks to Hurricane Sandy. Here's another shot of the same section and you can see the difference: http://365project.org/olivetreeann/themes-and-comp/2012-04-16
Great shot, Ann. I love the POV and it looks like a great place for a walk. I wish I had people to get together with but then they'd have to keep up with my pace (slow). Glad you had a good time. This is a great photo.
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! @pflaume Thank you Lisa- no, I didn't start one, but I did join one thanks to reading about activities that you and others have done with photo groups. I tried to stay in the background and just join to join, but that didn't last long! It started out they were looking for a secretary to serve on the executive committee so I offered to help but in the end another person filled that spot and I took on the job of finding inexpensive and nearby places where we could have meet ups- a position I'd rather do anyway. So that's the story behind this shot. @susale Thanks Suse! I think they may always be smaller groups but that's ok with me. With just three of us, it allowed us to pretty much do whatever we wanted! @prttblues Thanks Bev! Well, you know I'm not a fast mover either- and the fellow in the black likes to take it slow too- so you would fit right in here! I don't know, there's probably a photo club in your neck of the woods- you might want to check it out. From what I can see of our group- no one likes to go quickly- you miss too many shots that way!
That's great, Ann! I have really enjoying participating in my local photography meet up group. It's a great way to visit new places and meet other photography enthusiasts.
