A small group of people from our photo club went on a covered bridge tour this Saturday, so I thought it would be fun to take you on a tour for the next seven days. First stop: Bogert's Bridge. It was built in the 1700's by a family who owned a log cabin next to the site. It's one of the oldest bridges here in the region as well as the entire nation. Time and use from modern vehicles really did a number on this bridge but in 1956 a truck did some structural damage to it which resulted in a successful community effort to save the bridge. The Little Lehigh River flows quietly underneath and it one of the area's major trout fishing streams.
I had a wonderful time doing a covered bridge tour with my brother and s-I-l and John a few summers ago. It makes such a nice focus. Looking forward to all your pictures.
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian and thank you so much for the fav! @robz Thanks Rob! I had always been under the impression that most of the covered bridges in this state were at least 2 hours away so I was pleasantly surprised that we had 7 close by!
Thank you Allison, Connie, Vikki, Babs, Kas, Denise, Kerri, Mandy, Diane, Wendy, Kathy, Henri, Lisa, and Katy!
