We’ve all been questioned by non-photographers about what we “see” when we stop to take a picture. That never happens with other photographers. What I find is said most of the time is, “I never saw that!” to which I usually respond, “Well, I didn’t see what you saw either!” No one questions what you saw. Instead they take delight in the fact that you saw something different. Most discussions are based on trying to make others see things your way. But photographers want you to see things in your own way, not in a carbon copy fashion of theirs. They actually encourage different points of view (and have the pictures to prove it). The art of photography allows each photographer to not only see different things but to see things differently even when everyone is in the same location or shooting the same subject. Put a vase of flowers in the center of a dozen photographers and you will get a dozen different pictures of that vase with flowers and everyone will be happy with the outcome.
I'm almost done with November. What to do in December????
That would be my local photo club alright. I love the way you set them up. You’re ahead of me. I hadn’t really thought about December yet. There will be food and treats. There will be some decorations. Maybe I’ll revisit that iColorama app. Maybe I’ll go visit 365 December shots from the past for inspiration.
I am really enjoying your tutorial on the art of seeing. You are bringing up some very interesting ideas to think about. I like how you illustrate it with these cute photographers too!
My humble thanks for your kind words, views and favs! This has been a fun little mini-series. I'm sure the Lego Photo Club will be returning soon- they're just too much fun to play with!
@corinnec Unfortunately the Lego people are under copyright so I wouldn't be able to publish or sell images with them without Lego's consent. But it's a fun idea!
Love the way this all came together on the art of seeing. How they're all finding something a little different on the same subject.
I often find it funny how my friend, who is a landscape photographer, will look at a scene and see the expanse of the nature and how best to capture it, while my mind is wondering where can I add a Lego or toy to the scene. So much fun to see all our different perspectives.
Thank you Kathy!
Thank you Wendy!
Thanks Chris- so true. Multiply the difference between you and your friend by 6 or 7 and those are the results of a photo outing with my photo club friends who were the inspiration for this series. And thank you so much for the fav!
