We were absorbed by the lights of the season as we gazed upon our Christmas tree!
The song "Oh Tannebaum" is actually only about a fir tree (it's literal translation- Oh Fir Tree). It talks about the ever-green quality of the tree's boughs which are a symbol of constancy and faithfulness. Christmas trees became popular in the 19th century. The original lyrics were based on an old folk song and by the 20th century the lyrics composed by Ernst Anschutz had been adapted into a carol for the Christmas holiday, specifically extolling the beauty of the Christmas tree. The melody is also an old folk tune from the 16th century by Melchior Franck.
@grammyn I think there is another effect on top of the neon- it might even have been called "Christmas colors" or something like that. I'm sorry I can't remember it now- but I didn't use the neon effect from Ribbet or Picmonkey. I used the one in my Smart Photo Editor program. The second effect was also in there. Thanks Katy!
Thank you all for the views, comments and favs! I'm off to my photo club's Christmas party but I'll be back tomorrow to catch up with you.
@grammyn yes- and added a solar flare as a star on top of the tree.
