Stairs

In Nelson Bay this morning I noticed this fire escape on a block of flats (apartments). I just loved the colours and thought it made an interesting pattern.

@gypsy6 Looks a bit flat in b&w. It was the blue which stood out. Saw it as I drove in to Nelson Bay and then walked up the hill to take the photo.

@joluise Thanks Jo. Let's hope they have got an elevator on the inside and this is only used for emergencies or quick exits for clandestine visitors!!!

It makes a great pattern and although it looks the sort of shot that should be effective in b&w I really like the blue too.

@joeyc Thanks Joey. the blue did make it eye catching. I noticed it as I was driving into Nelson Bay and after I parked the car walked back up the hill to take the photo.

@paulaw Thanks Paula. Deb said that too and I tried it in b&w but it just looked a bit flat. Sometimes b&w really works, but because the blue was so bold it was missing something in monochrome.

I think it works well in colour. I think the problem with B+W may be the lowered contrast between the sky and the blue wall on the staircase

The patterns and lines are outstanding. That kick of blue really sets this off. Great geometry! Good eye Babs!!

@davidgnc Thanks David. It did look more dramatic in colour. I did play about with b&w and played with the contrast too, but it just didn't look as good.

@eyesmile Thanks Gena. Some of the "new improved" apartment blocks in Nelson Bay look awful, a bit like "prisoner cell block H"!! but this particular one doesn't look too bad. Still a case of making money for the developers though!
