Rare species? by onewing

Rare species?

I saw this green headed raven on a Gymea lily and wondered at first how his head was a different colour, could this be a new species! ha ha and then realized that it was covered with pollen from the Gymea lily.

We have been away in Sydney for the weekend so I am catching up on the days I have missed with a couple of fillers.

Had a busy but lovely couple of days away. We went to see The King and I at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday. Brilliant show. Then on Sunday we were at Mosman for the Federation of Camera Club New South Wales Annual Inter Club Exhibition.

Photography Clubs across New South Wales can submit photos for the annual exhibition and the finalists photos were on display at the event today.

Our photo club was lucky enough to have 6 photos chosen for the final selection.

1300 photos were submitted all together and 37 photo clubs took part, 250 photos were short listed.

It was an excellent day with some fantastic photos on display and also two really interesting speakers.

Pretty tired tonight as we have only just got back home. I just want to post my photos, download the photos I took while I was in Sydney, have a cup of tea and then go to bed. Will try and catch up with your photos tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks to everyone who have commented on my photos from Friday. Haven't had chance yet to catch up on them.

Our Gymea Lily has finished, and we cut it down on the weekend. This one is still so lovely. Must almost be the end of whale season?

Great shot. I don't think we have Gymea Lilies down south. They are a mystery to me.

@beryl Know what you mean. Always hectic here, so much going on. I think I am booking a rest on the 28 November, can't fit one in before that, ha ha.

@888rachel Some Gymea lilies are still flowering here and yes it is almost the end of the whale season. A friend of ours saw one as he walked along Fly Point a few days ago, so I hope it got out through the Heads okay. Usually by the end of October they have all gone home apart from a few stragglers.

@ethelperry I think you only get them up the East Coast between NSW and Queensland.

Still pretty busy. I am giving a Photoshop presentation at our photo club tonight and before that we are going to a talk at our Community Centre on Goulburn Island and then changing over our exhibition photos in the library. Another busy day.
