Not so proud by onewing

Not so proud

I have been out most of the day today at a friend's house setting up various things on her computer. Also I am at a complicated part of my family history story write up too, so photography is taking a bit of a back seat at the moment. I thought I would post a few photos taken at Montsalvat over the next few days. Hope you find them interesting.

I spotted this peacock at Montsalvat and he didn't seem to mind being photographed.

I called this photo "Not so proud" because if you look closely, his tail feathers appear to have been plucked. Not sure what that is all about, but he isn't going to be able to mesmerise the ladies without his spectacular feathers is he. Hope they grow back.

Montsalvat is an artists' colony at Eltham in Victoria and is a super place for photography, so if anyone is ever in that area do drop in. You can get a fantastic lunch there too in the restaurant.

If anyone is interested here is a link to the history of Montsalvat.

A lovely capture and composition ! He is obviously looking over his shoulder to see if his pride and glory is starting to grow again !!!

A handsome bird ...beautifully positioned there...I know you didn't oersonally position him there but great catch Babs! He does look a little out of proportion!

He is perfectly poised for a photo, such a shame about his tail feathers, hope they weren't pulled out intentionally :)

@quietpurplehaze @shailestha @mv_wolfie @neatz @creampuff @beryl @happypat @hermann @lesip @mittens @seattlite @chimfa @yaorenliu @ceilidh @snoopybooboo @eyesmile @taffy @kwind @loweygrace Thank you all for your lovely comments. I think Sahilesh is right and he is probably moulting. Apparently peacocks do moult at the end of summer. Maybe this chap had a busy year. Hopefully he will be back to normal by next spring

Beautiful in spite of his lack of tail feathers Babs, I like the way you have composed this. Great capture. I do lots of family history as well and it is very time consuming as well as fascinating!

brilliant that he posed for you. I find them very hard to shoot, as they keep running away all the time. This is magnificent
fav

@fntngrma Thanks Rosan.

@tabarlett thanks Tammy. I think his feathers will grow back in the spring. I believe they moult when the summer is over.

@thistle Thanks Joyce. I have been tracing my family history for quite a while now and I am not putting the whole story together. It is amazing what we find out when we dig isn't it. Definitely some interesting stories along the way.

@ninaganci Thanks so much Nina. This one seemed quite tame and was quite happy for me to photograph him.

As the saying goes....big hat no cattle.... I'm sure he appreciated the attention. Love the composition, colours and subtle reflection. Fav

Ha ha Nice of him to for you up there Babs
April 7th, 2015
@kathiecb Ha ha, thank you so much Kathie. Never heard that saying before. He was quite tame and didn't move as I got closer. I think he was looking at his reflection in the window to see if his tail had grown back.

@terryliv Thanks Terry. He was definitely doing a bit of posing.
