Love to look at things of the past and this shot is beautiful and inviting ! We have an open air museum -- Blist Hill here near Ironbridge Telford wher you walk around and visit all these different past industries ! -- so very interested ! Fav for me Babs !
@beryl Thanks for the fav Beryl. I have been to Blists Hill when we lived in the UK back in our RAF days and I agree it is a fabulous place. I am sure it has improved a lot since we were there over 30 years ago though.
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine. It is a very interesting place to visit. Even on days when there are no particular events it is good to go to. Maybe your photo club would be interested. More opportunities of the buildings etc if there is no event on though for a club visit. Check out their website.
There is also Tocal Agricultural College just down the road and they have open days at various times during the year too and that is interesting.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. Yes I imagine it would get very hot in there in summer. This is probably why they always have their open days in winter I suspect, ha ha.
@888rachel Thanks Rachel. I don't think they wore gloves back in the early days or now either. I have seen lots of blacksmith's demonstrations and I have never seen them wearing gloves. I bet they have lots of injuries.
This is the original blacksmith's forge on the property at Tocal Homestead and dates back to the 1800s so a lot of history here. Whenever there are open days here it is always interesting to see the blacksmith demonstrating his craft. I am sure it gets very hot in summer which is why they probably have their Peek into the Past open days in the middle of winter.
