Friday people day and this is a photo of Bush Poet, Bob Skelton AKA The Minmi Magster taken at Tocal Homestead a couple of months ago.
Bob is a regular at such events and entertains visitors with his poems about local people and places.
Here he is telling a poem about his "Barcoo Dog". He is holding the barcoo dog in his hand and it is a series of tin lids on a wire string. A barcoo dog is used to round up sheep when the farmer doesn't have a real dog. The idea is to rattle the barcoo dog to herd the sheep into the pen.
He calls his barcoo dog Rusty and when he was in America a while ago he said that somebody suggested it be called Rin Tin Tin.
Bob reckons that his dog is much better than a real dog as it doesn't need feeding and it doesn't pee on your leg.
Here is one of his poems about Tocal Homestead if you are interested.
Bob is also a photographer and sells his framed photos of life in the bush at the events he attends. Tomorrow I will post one of his famous photos and I wish I'd have taken that photo it is fabulous.
Typing is a bit easier now I have a splint instead of a cast, so that is good news. Still not able to use my left hand much though for another 4 weeks.
