The Very Rare Stone Bird by onewing

The Very Rare Stone Bird

While out for a walk last week I was lucky enough to spot this very rare bird, the stone bird. As you can see they lay plenty of eggs, but unfortunately, not may survive. Hopefully our local climate may be mild enough for them to increase their numbers.

For some reason they have very watery eyes too I believe, can't think why!
I have spotted some of these on this side of the tazzy as well..

What a find , Babs !! but not so rare as you may think -- I have also spotted one or two in the UK but never with the abundance of eggs this pair seem to have laid !! Perhaps ours are migratory birds only visiting during the warmer weather !!
Great find , shot and imagination Baps !!

@julzmaioro @beryl Well there you go, maybe they have better luck breeding than I thought they did.

Amazing sighting! I wonder if they have crossed the Atlantic or have any breeds similar here in the US. With that many eggs, I'd have thought they were more commonly found!

Great find Babs, cute little chaps and they don't p**s off when to try to take a pic. agapanthus envy as well .... back in Warwick to find all my aggies have been decimated by the recent hail storm so no aggies for me this year :(

:)) Love your stone birds. Must be very rare. Don't think I've ever seen one. Must keep a good look-out in future for them.

Haha... love your stone birds Babs. With all of those eggs I think the breed will spread very quickly.

@terryliv Are you kidding, they don't fly. I believe they belong to the dodo family. Whenever they try to fly they just drop like a stone oddly enough.

Ha ha well done.

Love it Babs. I don't think they've made it the west. Maybe the Nullarbor is just too wide for them to cross.

Well stone me, what a very rare bird to capture. I feel very sorry for the female bird that laid them, it was surely a very painful experience. Lovely capture.
