Don't you just hate it when you walk into a web, at night, where one of these things is living. Luckily I managed to spot him before I walked into him.
He measures about 6 cm and the web is so strong.
Thanks so much to everyone who has commented on my photos since I came back from holiday in New Zealand and sorry I haven't had chance to reply individually to you all.
Since returning I have had a dreadful sore throat, cough and cold and it has taken me a few days to get back on track.
I have now caught up with the unpacking, washing, ironing, shopping etc and I am back to the reality of the real world after being on a ship for two weeks. I have now got my land legs back again too.
Waw such a wonderful capture Babs - but would much rather see it here as a photo than bumping into him at night !! Sorry to here that you have the reoccurrence of this dreadful cold virus I hope you will feel bette soon -- do take care Babs
oh good lord! I would have totally freakedIi am not afraid to say if I had walked in to this. Wonderful shot and I would fav it but I dont want to look at him again!!!
@beryl Thanks Beryl. Luckily because they are so large they are easy to see unless they manage to make a web in a sneaky spot. The webs are like wire though
@tracie8266 Thanks Tracie. He is gorgeous and only scary when you don't actually see the web. The web really crackles sometimes as you walk through it.
@tonygig@happysnaps@mcmary@pusspup Thanks, he is gorgeous and only a problem when you find them in rather inconvenient places and walk into their web at night.
Such a pretty pattern on his back Babs! I would be worried too walking into this web but even more so in your country! Not so many very poiseness here!
No actually he is a garden orb weaving spider. Isn't he beautiful.
