I had a lovely chat to the lady who owns these two gorgeous donkeys and she told me that they are both rescue donkeys.
She travels around the country and collects donkeys that have been mistreated and they are then looked after in their new home at her donkey sanctuary.
The donkey with the floppy ear was injured quite severely by wild dogs, but now looks very happy with her new friend.
An endearing capture and story. I haven't been up close and personal with donkeys. I wonder if they can become close and tender with humans the way horses do.
Great capture in lovely detail Babs, its amazing the devotion of these people all over the world who take creatures in and care for them at their our expense to save them suffering any longer:)
A lovely capture.Such a heart warming story, I admire these people who dedicate their lives to the selfless task of making a difference to defenceless animals :)
It's such a good thing that we have people around who take in these lovely animals that nobody seems to want. I love donkeys and this is a Fav. When my daughter was little she used to have little sales in our front garden to raise money for a donkey sanctuary and I'm so glad that she has a kind heart.
@ethelperry I think donkeys are very affectionate, but more reserved than horses. When we lived in Cyprus we saw lots of donkeys, quite a few people in the villages owned them, but they weren't always very well looked after.
