A couple of days ago I posted a photo of the colours of the ocean and this is where I took that photo from.
Here at Boat Harbour is one of the places we come to watch the whales go past on their migration up the east coast of Australia from
Antarctica to give birth to their young in warmer waters.
I not only love the colours of the ocean here I also love the interesting rock formations too.
Fantastic colours, detail and wonderful point of view, can't agree more Babs what a beautiful place to spend some time and maybe see the whales migration:)
@helenhall Yes Helen the whale migration starts about May till the beginning of August from Antarctica to Queensland generally as far as Hervey Bay and they pass Port Stephens on the way. They travel to warmer waters to give birth to their young and then journey back again from September to November.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter, it is a lovely vantage point to watch the whales from. We saw quite a few from Barry Park at Fingal bay too while on our walk on Wednesday.
@quietpurplehaze I agree Hazel. We have plenty of sandy beaches, but this headland juts out quite a way to the ocean. The sandy beach at Birubi is just to the right of here.
@cruiser Thanks Chris. We are so lucky here that we don't even have to go out on a whale watch boat to see the whales. Although having said that it is quite an experience to see them so close from the boats.
