Today David and I were invited to the official opening of the Wanda Headland Maritime Heritage Walk. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a grey day.
David was invited because he'd worked on some of the pictures incorporated in the walk for the local Historical Society.
The two people you can see in the photo are the NBN television channel news team who were covering the event while trying to keep their expensive looking camera dry.
After filming all the official speeches etc they obviously thought the same as I did and tried to capture the greyness of the day.
You can probably see rather a lot of splashes on my lens and rain dripping from the end of my umbrella too.
@ethelperry I was definitely a stayer Ethel. Pretty chilly too when I got home. Luckily we didn't have to stay too long and our event did appear on the news last night.
@susiemc I can't really complain because it is winter and we do need the rain. Hasn't rained for over two weeks until now. Only a few more weeks until spring.
@golftragic It was pretty grim. I felt so sorry for the official speakers who got soaked. At least we could stay dry under umbrellas. I felt so sorry for the two girls from Channel 9 television too, they got soaked and had to carry those huge cameras around all for our two or three minutes of news last night.
Aww, what a shame about the weather - did many people turn out for it Babs? Seems a funny time of year to have a walk opening really, I would have thought as spring was so close-by it would have made sense to way-lay it for a couple of weeks... Oh and great capture of the event, your picture kind of reminds me of a summers day here in the UK.
There are quite a lot of grey tones on the horizon which I like very much. I don't know how anyone manages to carry those huge cameras around with them all the time!

I was thankful for our wood burner fire when we got home. I did feel sorry for the two girls under the umbrella from the TV channel who were reporting our event. They got soaked, but we did manage two minutes of news on TV last night.
Luckily we don't get too many days like this in winter here.
