Thanks so much for the overwhelming response to yesterday's photo, so emotional.
I took a series of photos taken at the fairground in Nelson Bay a couple of days after Christmas, but with the way our year ended and this year began, it wasn't really appropriate to post them at the time. So I thought that as my year is hopefully taking a turn for the better with more fun things on the cards, now would be a better time to post fairground photos.
I have to add though that I don't really find clowns fun, they are quite creepy. I used to hate the clowns at the circus when I was a child. In fact most of the fairground photos I will be posting over the next few days are quite creepy. Hope I don't traumatise too many people. ha ha.
This made me think...laugh and the world laugh with you...cry and you cry alone. Shame they do have to pretend laughing and having fun. How do we know what is going on in their lives.
Well you've just traumatized me 😱 I hate clowns. I can't even take the kids to the circus and they find it so funny they torment me with any clown photos they come across. It's a stupid fear, I know, but they make me feel so uncomfortable - uck! But it's good you feel the time is right to start posting fun pics. But how worried should I be over the next few days 😮😮😊😊
Superb capture full of fun and wonderful colour Babs, funny thing about clowns and children I was not to keep on them either, as a small boy I was in hospital when the circus came to town and two of the clowns came into the children's ward to cheer us up, they only seemed to scare the life of all the children but the nurses & doctors laughed at their antics:)
@pcoulson Oh God Peter no wonder you are traumatized by them. I would have hated that.
Mum always took us to the circus at Christmastime and sat us right at the front. I was okay with the animals and the trapeze artists etc but when the clowns came on I was out of there.
You will imagine that when we had our kids, David took them to the circus not me.
I am also a non-fan of clowns I find them creepy and sinister , and as a child - like you I hated the clowns in the circus ! I found I wanted to pass over your image as quick as possible !! ughhhh !!
Does anyone like clowns? I don't know anyone who does so maybe they need to become more cute looking and not so scarey! My son has a real phobia! Hope this year is a happier one for you all. 😊
Fortunately I haven't had many encounters of a close kind with the sort of clowns under discussion. There are plenty of others causing havoc in their daily activities. I prefer the song 'Send in the clowns'. Judy Collins, Barbra Streisand or Susan Boyle, winner of Britain's Got Talent.

It depends on the type of clown. Charly Chaplin was a clown too and I still love his movies. Fellini`s ``I Clown`` is also one of my fav. movie.
Love the : Commedia dell'arte with the figures : Harlekin, Paljas, August and Periot . All kinds of clowns. I nearly forgot : Oleg Popov . a Russian clown world famous.
I like clowns.. I used to love seeing them on the TV and at the circus as a kid, they would make me laugh. They don't bother me now either, I think they are funny colourful and bright and jolly. Interesting to read how people's perceptions can be so different though.
@s4sayer thanks Margo. I find clowns both creepy and sad. You mention the song 'Send in the clowns' which is also a song that reflects on the ironies and disappointments in life. I have to admit that I have never found clowns fun.
So many people don't like clowns, or find them creepy. And yet there is an entire foundation to send them into hospitals to cheer people up!: http://www.humourfoundation.com.au/
Well, I am in the minority as I do like clowns- at least the classic smile and make you laugh kind. The scare-tactic movies that make them evil are horrible. I've even done some clowning. The traditional clown did show his/her emotion. In fact they were kind of a teaching-tool in the Middle Ages. This shot is colorful and cheery. At least these fellows seem to be enjoying themselves!
