The Block Arcade - Melbourne by onewing

The Block Arcade - Melbourne

I have got a few huge projects on the go at the moment, one of which is a photo book of my 2016 365 photos.

I have to finish that project during the next week because there is a special offer on at the moment, so I will be posting fillers over the next couple of weeks, as I won't have a lot of free time for actually taking photos.

I was looking through old photos over the weekend when we were melting in the heat and came across this one of The Block Arcade in Melbourne.

I quite liked the effect of one of Peter's recent photos @pcoulson using poster edges so I thought I would give it a go. Thanks Peter for giving me the idea.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter for giving me the idea of using poster edges for this photo.

I work opposite the Royal Arcade - such a beautiful building. Nearly as gorgeous as the Block Arcade, which is very close to the Royal!

Great POV and such an interesting ceiling! I've also started an album of my 365 project, more as a diary - it is hard work isn't it, but will be worth it I'm sure!

@gigiflower You've got me wondering now Sam. Is this the Royal or the Block? I always used to get them mixed up

@gigiflower very similar ceilings if I remember rightly.

A beautiful and ornate ceiling from the Victorian era _ what would you call the style in Australia ?

@princessm @julzmaioro @hunnybee @bizziebeeme @deborah63 @susiemc @cutekitty @beryl @swillinbillyflynn @inthecloud5 @777margo @quietpurplehaze @hermann @novab @stephanies @seattlite @merrelyn @tonygig @mittens @fishers @paul10 @salza @craftymeg @jesperani @jmdspeedy @carolmw @bkbinthecity @dawnee @pcoulson @lynne5477 @taffy @chimfa @kwind @radiogirl Thanks. I have corrected the title now because it is The Block Arcade not the Royal. They are close to each other and built at the same time and I always get confused. the ceilings are similar. @gigiflower Look forward to your photos Sam and for checking out which arcade it is. I Googled the Dafel and Australian By Design and they are at The Block, so I know for sure now which arcade it is. ha ha. I love all the arcades in Melbourne, they have such character.
February 16th, 2017
Yep, it's The Block Arcade all right. I love the strong lines and symmetry in this shot. Must be packs of fun cleaning those windows.
February 16th, 2017
@golftragic Cleaning windows, what does that mean. ha ha. that comes under maintenance, not domestic, so David has that job. I am not as dumb as I look.
February 16th, 2017
@onewing I have a very selective eye when it comes to seeing things that might need cleaning, there's always something better/more important to do. Les has given up on me in that department.
February 16th, 2017
Beautiful architectural shot with some very nice repetition!
February 16th, 2017
Great composition and editing! FAV!
February 16th, 2017
Fantastic processing. Fav

February 16th, 2017
@onewing Of course it's the Block, no Gog & Magog (but I still recognise it)
February 16th, 2017
