Back to Earth

David said thank you so much for your lovely comments on his astronomical photos over the last week and pleased that you were all interested in his narrative too.

As you can we are now back on earth so to speak, but this photo does have a touch of an astronomical interest in it too.

I took this photo last night from the Gan Gan Lookout because a group of us were up there to see the International Space Station passing by.

The ISS was clear to see in the night sky at approximately 8 pm but before that we were able to see this lovely sunset.
Beautiful picture!!!!!I love the very faint rays coming from behind the cloud.

It was a beautiful clear night. We had our Paul our expert astronomer with us at the lookout and he pointed out lots of stars etc.
The ISS can be seen every few days or so providing the weather is clear and it orbits the earth every 92 minutes.

@annied I will Annie.
February 25th, 2017
@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, it was a very safe landing. Luckily I have lots of padding.
February 25th, 2017
@olivetreeann the ISS does travel very quickly doesn't it. It can be seen every few days or so here providing the sky is clear. To think that it orbits the earth once every 92 minutes.

There is a website called Heavens Above and it tells you when the ISS can be seen in your area if you are interested http://www.heavens-above.com/
February 25th, 2017
@yaorenliu Yes it does look like a passing star or satellite.
