We have been out all day today with our walking group, followed by lunch in Shoal Bay and then I had grocery shopping to do, so have only just got home.
I haven't had chance yet to check out the photos I have taken today, but it is the first day of winter and all of a sudden it has gone quite chilly here. A top of 16 degrees C and all the walkers were rather rugged up today.
This photo is the next stage of our walk at the beginning of May around Soldiers Point.
Here you can see the calmness of the bay in the foreground and the headland in the distance.
Yacaaba Head is on the left, Tomaree Head on the right and the tiny island in the centre just behind the boat is Boondelbah Island.
This side of the bay is very sheltered but once through The Heads is the ocean proper and the waves can get huge on rough days.
I remember the same thing when I lived in Sydney and used to sail. It was beautifully protected around the harbour until you got out to The Heads, then it could fast turn into a washing machine! Nice shot.
Beautiful blues in this shot and thank you for the explanation - can you, or have you, ever visited the little island Boondelbah? I did smile at your expression "rugged up."
@lynnz@olivetreeann Our winters are probably quite mild compared to yours. today we have beautiful blue skies, but it still feels chilly to us. 15 degrees c today (59f) Winter where I live doesn't very often get down to single figures C. but we can get a low of 10 C very often (50f).
When you think our summer temperatures are around 35 - 40C (95F - 102F), it is still pretty chilly now. The good thing about our winters though is we don't get snow here and even in winter we have some lovely mild days.
@happypat@pcoulson Australia makes you soft I am sure. Today is a lovely day, clear blue skies and sunshine but still only 15 degrees and I am rugged up in fleecy tops and thick denim jeans.
@casablanca Know what you mean about the washing machine sailing. David isn't too bad sailing within the bay, but once outside the Heads he turns a deep shade of green.
@stephanies Boondelbah is a protected nature reserve and is uninhabited. I have only sailed round it. I have climbed to the top of Yacaaba Head and Tomaree Head though. Yacaaba is hard going with only a rough track to the top, but Tomaree is quite civilized and had steps and paths right to the summit.
Need I say I'm joining the chorus!! I'm all rugged up, but have to go out to a golf lesson this arvo, an outing I'm not really looking forward to. But I do like your lovely seaside scene, you must live in a truly beautiful place.
I love the whole picture, that's why I faved it yesterday. But most of all I like how you integrated just a tiny bit of the sand. It makes the picture more interesting because of the different colour.
I need your walking group badly!
Thanks for mention !/2 was on it`s end. I never notice a start of ending.
