Lunchtime by onewing

Lunchtime

I am posting a bit early today because we are out again this evening.

Here we have Onewing again. In this shot you can see her floppy wing a bit more clearly and if you look really close you can see the toe on her left foot, that should be round the back of the chair, acting as a thumb so to speak, just sits on the top of the chair. It has always been deformed and it doesn't seem to bother her.

It wasn't easy trying to feed her with raw mince and take her photo one handed at the same time, but I did manage to capture the meat in her beak before she swallowed it.
Great closeup -- and I always like bird 'action shots'!

Oh well done! She reminds me of that joke about the missing dog: one ear, blind in one eye, broken tooth, limps, answers to the name Lucky.......

Great shot Gabs. Does this Kookaburra live in your back yard, can it catch it's own food with only one wing?

@taffy @nicolecampbell @hrs @starlea1 @365projectorgjenfurj @dianeb @lyndamcg @sarahlth @gilbertwood @dide @bella_ss @thistle Don't feel too sorry for Onewing she is very well fed and she turns up most days. She does prefer to come here on her own because she is a bit of Princess, but she does turn up with the rest of her clan at times.

@casablanca Ha ha, indeed. The dog story does sound a bit like Onewing too doesn't it. When she was younger she had one eye closed too. I think she got pecked in her eye, but luckily it did heal, so maybe she should be called Lucky too.

@inthecloud5 @susiemc Not only one handed but left handed too. I had the mince in my right hand.

@deborah63 She does get about a bit, but turns up most days. She does have two wings, but the right one is a bit floppy from an injury when she was younger, but she can fly, she just has to do a bit of a skip and a jump before she can take off.

@beryl She does love being fed mince and gets quite excited. It is always fun watching her do a happy dance as I go outside with food for her. She is quite a character.

@pcoulson @fbailey @happysnaps @hermann @sangwann @louannwarren @pusspup @jodies @sailingmusic @novab @mssheeran @henrir @merrelyn @s4sayer @mittens @paul10 @carolmw @carole_sandford @megpicatilly @loweygrace @suzanne234 @stephanies @happypat @helenhall @radiogirl @pamdavis2015 @gaylewood @golftragic Thanks, she is quite a character. She is very tame with me, but not keen if anyone else comes in the garden when I am feeding her. A friend was here a couple of days ago and for some reason Onewing didn't like her at all and flew away. She came back later for the remainder of her lunch.
