Man and Buoy by onewing

Man and Buoy

After a couple of days of bushfire photos I thought I would go back to posting photos taken on our walk in Newcastle last Thursday for the next couple of days.

The bushfires are still burning, but apparently under control now. Everywhere is very smoky and I suspect it will be for quite a few days yet.

This photo was taken while on the ferry to Newcastle.
Good to hear that the fires are under control. A lovely shot on a gorgeous day, that must be the maintenance crew at work.

Lovely composition. I too am pleased to hear that the fires are under control.

@ludwigsdiana Yes it is the maintenance crew. The marker buoys are to direct the container and coal ships out of the harbour. Red buoys are for traffic one way and green for the other.

Looks like a busy time in the harbour. Better news about the fires.

It must get in your clothes and hair all the time. You'll be glad when it's all gone, I should imagine. Hope they are put out fully soon. Maintenance on the market buoy, eh? Now there's an interesting job!

@ludwigsdiana @susiemc @flowerfairyann @hermann @pusspup @beryl Thanks. I took a couple of rather hazy photos of our area this evening from the Gan Gan lookout, it was pretty chilly up there too as the temperature has really dropped tonight. I will post them in a couple of days.
The Shoal Bay fire is almost burnt out now, but the Salt Ash fire will still burn for at least a week I should think. They have contained it but now will just have to wait until it burns itself out. The area of fire is 20 square kilometres.

@casablanca Thanks. Luckily it was a calm day, they would be really bobbing about if the wind was blowing.

I took some photos from the Gan Gan lookout of our area this evening and it was still quite hazy with the smoke from the fire at Salt Ash and Shoal Bay. Luckily the wind has changed now and the smell of smoke has cleared tonight. I will post the photos from Gan Gan in a couple of days.

@fbailey @tonygig @pcoulson Thanks. It was a lovely day in Newcastle last Thursday when I took this photo, who would think that the sky would be thick with smoke a couple of days later.

Looks so nice and blue! They must stay on top of the buoys quite diligently I would say- lots riding on safety with them.

I hope you manage to keep healthy with so much smoke around in the air. Being on the coast must help.
