Another photo from the Gan Gan lookout a few days ago. As with yesterday's photo you can see the bands of smoke in the picture.
The smoke has cleared and all we need now is some rain.
As with yesterday's photo there are Gymea lilies in the foreground. Gymea lilies are endemic to the coastal regions of New South Wales and can grow up to 4 metres in height.
@hermann Know what you mean Sal. The forecasters have been saying all week that we are getting rain, but still none here.
@helenhall I suspect we are in for a very bad spring and summer. The weather was very wet during June, but July was dry and now as a result August has brought masses of fires across the State. I don't think any rain will dampen the ground enough to stop a terrible season of bushfires.
@golftragic Don't think so Marnie, but I am not an expert of flowers. I think waratah maybe protea family but according to Google Gymea Lilies are Doryanthes family if that helps.
Interesting flower- so bright and cheery. I do hope you get rain though. I can't imagine how anxious folks must be for their property. Sure wish there was a way to ship you some of our excess!
@Dawn @ludwigsdiana @louannwarren @paul10 @henrir @peterday @craftymeg @flowerfairyann @suzanne234 @pyrrhula Thanks, the view from Gan Gan are lovely, you can see all around the bay from there.
@pcoulson They are gorgeous flowers. It is said that the lilies flower when the whales are on the move up and down the coast.
@kjarn Wow, 5 minutes of rain. Still none here.
