I am a bit late posting tonight because we have been to the theatre this afternoon with friends and out for dinner this evening.
I took this photo a while ago at the Anzac Memorial Walk in Newcastle and somebody had placed poppies on the railings, so I decided to turn this photo into a selective colouring shot.
We’ve just returned from Paimpont's War Memorial and the laying of a wreath by children from Paimpont's school. Speeches were made. The Mayor of Paimpont read out the names of Pampontais who lost their lives in the 1914-1918 conflict. Cadets from Coëtquidan, France's Officer Training School, just 20 minutes from Paimpont, were present. The names of fallen Paimpontais were read out, also those French soldiers who have died in active service this year. A moment to recognise the cooperation between the military and the rest of the population
I think the selective coloring is perfect here. I've been really impressed with a lot of the memorials this year. They are quite moving and creative. Good shot!
@casablanca After having taken part in Remembrance Day services in the UK and Anzac Day services in Australia for over 35 service years, this year we went to the theatre and dinner with friends instead.
@s4sayer It must have been a very emotional day for you. I always find Remembrance Day and Anzac Day moving. We are going to Canberra in January and always start our trip there by going to the closing ceremony at the War Memorial, it is always a moving experience.
