I have had a lovely lazy day at home today. I do try and get at least one free day a week, but it doesn't always happen. David has been out with his 'train' pals this afternoon so I have had the house to myself.
Here is another photo taken at the State Library on Tuesday.
I just loved these artworks by artist Wendy Sharpe. The three panels are reproduced as backlit graphics in the Mitchell Building of the State Library.
This is what Wendy Sharpe had to say about the artworks.
'I wanted to capture a sense of the place and the people. My main interest is always people and, of course, that's what the reading room and the library are about. I love the juxtapositions of all the different people, all quietly working in there, and the different ways they study or read. But also the different ways they sit and the expressions on their faces.'
The artist really did capture everything she said she wanted too- I've seen all of those faces when I worked at a library many years ago- and also more recently when I was earning my masters and studying myself! Nicely captured.
