Flooded Dunes by onewing

Flooded Dunes

I am posting very early today because a friend of mine is having day surgery today and I have to go to pick her up later today. As she lives alone she is coming here for dinner and staying the night because she isn't allowed to be alone after anaesthetic. So I am on 'responsible adult' duties for the next 24 hours.

Will try and check out some of your photos before I have to pick her up but will be limited.

Last Sunday David and I went to Birubi Beach to see what damage had been done after our recent floods and rain. As you can see the dunes are still flooded even four weeks after the rains and storms. It all looks so different at the moment.

The dunes closest to the ocean have been flattened and the sand has shifted so much. There have been a few surprises along the way and I will post the result of those in a few days.

It is the first time we have been to Birubi since the floods because the roads were blocked due to flooding.
Gorgeous shot and your friend is so lucky to have you! Enjoy the company.

Beautiful shot. I like the dof and the puddles of water on the sand. Should attract some interesting wild life.

Water is so powerful. It makes new inroads on the Texas beaches when we have hurricanes. This is so beautiful!

Sorry for the group reply but my responsible adult duties are over now and I have just taken Sharon home. She is fine and all went well. She had bowel cancer twice, the last time was 10 years ago but she has to have a colonoscopy once a year to make sure the cancer hasn't returned. Now she has reached the 10 year point they have said the next colonoscopy shouldn't be for another 3 years, so all sounding positive.

I couldn't believe just how much water is still here at Birubi. The water just isn't draining any more. We did have about 700 mm rain in a week though. Samurai Beach at Anna Bay is still closed off because the water hasn't drained there either and the sand is like quicksand.
