I hope the people who own these mail boxes collect their mail every day as some of them don’t exactly look water tight. There appears to be mail in some of them if you look closely and I suspect that some of their mail will be a bit on the soggy side.
Well spotted what an interesting subject, love the detail and composition, great shot Babs, my mail would be in the one left of 1639 always get wet feet when collecting the post;)
Very interesting Babs.....I love the mail boxes at the ends of these country roads in the Southern Hemisphere.
NZ mail boxes are truly amazing sometimes ,all individually hand made many a time...we have brought three back with us during the years.
I am rather intrigued with the numbering as they don't seem to follow on . NZ get the numbers of more isolated homesteads by the distance from the gate to the end of that road. One of our sons is number 2027 which means it's 2027 metres from the start of that road...ingenious hey....I think they are so clever, you know exactly how far you have to travel along that road.
These however don't appear to do that...have you any ideas?
Such a variety of styles and sizes. I can tell this isn't Canada. If your box isn't a certain height, size, distance from the road etc they won't deliver. Don't get me started!
@jackie8 Our letter boxes aren't in our front door out here. They are on poles like this only at the front of our property. Most are in better shape than these though. The postie drives round on a motor bike.
@loweygrace@lpot1985@beryl@angelar@pittcj17@chimfa@creampuff@dolphin@kwiksilver@april16@eyesmile@kathiecb Thanks so much. @happypat I gather that it is the same here too Pat. That the number on the mail box in the country is determined by how far the farmhouse is away from the road. In this area the farms are huge and so a batch of boxes are grouped together in one place.
We also have some creative mail boxes too, especially in the country and I have posted some on here previously.
