Looking Down

This photo is taken from the top of the Queens Wharf tower at the wharf in Newcastle, as seen in yesterday's photo. You can see through the rails the umbrellas from one of the cafes along the foreshore.

There are beautiful views across Newcastle from the tower and it would make excellent night photography too. Unfortunately, recently they have started to lock the tower at 6 pm because vandals have caused a lot of damage.

wonderful perspective Babs, like the horizontal patterns and depth of field with lots of detail, is it an open structure or did you have glass to shot through as well;)

Very cool perspective, like how the umbrellas are dwarfed with the considerable height. Do they have an elevator ?

Ooh great pov, would never get my husband up there though as he's hopeless with heights!

Thanks again everyone. sorry for the group reply again, but we are off to a cheese and wine thing and a talk about photography at our library early this evening and then out for dinner with friends, so still in a bit of a spin.
to answer a couple of questions here, this part of the tower is an open structure so you can poke your camera through the rails but at the top it is strong perspex and meshed wire. You can't get a very good picture through the perspex in places though because it has been scratched by vandals.
