Bush fires everywhere by onewing

Bush fires everywhere

As it was a pretty hot day yesterday apparently, (I missed most of it), there were lots of bushfires across New South Wales. I thought this photo would be appropriate for my pairs theme. I have a feeling that we are going to have a long hot summer ahead.

The photo on the left was taken at the Fire Station in Castlereagh Street, Sydney. David and I were taking photos through the window and the Deputy Commissioner of NSW Fire Brigade was just going in the building. He invited us in to take photos inside and gave us a tour too. Delightful chap.
The photo on the right was taken in September when Deb and Will and Archie were up here on holiday. We saw two fires during their stay. One on the day they arrived and one on the day they left. This one was taken as we were driving to the airport.

Will was so excited to be able to see three separate fires from the plane as they took off from the airport. He phoned me when they got back to Melbourne to tell me all about it.

Today's main album photo

So it finally warmed up over there? I love the way that you have related the two standalone images Babs. Great job.

A fave for the awesome fire truck. And what anime man to let you in. I hear firies are pretty awesome people ;)
That fire looks like a big one too.

Super pairs shot and I love the old fire truck. They have bags of character don't they.

Great pairs! Shame about the bushfires. Let's hope this is not how our Summer is going to be!

A great symbolic pair - so sorry to hear of the bushfires but love the little red truck --how kind of the Dep. Commissioner to invite you in ! Keep safe from thee fires !

That is an amazing specimen of a Pyrocumulus Babs, nice old fire truck :)

@bkbinthecity Thanks. the tour was great.

@derekvickers Thanks Derek. Warmed up, we are nearly melting. It has gone cooler today though.
November 15th, 2014
@cljs Thanks Chris. Bush fires are a few miles away from where I live luckily at present.

@karlow75 I've heard that firies are pretty awesome too :) You all do such a grand job. Keep up the good work.

@chimfa A fire truck just like this came out to Welton to a fire when we lived in Lincolnshire. That was back when Noah was a lad and I think the crew were similar age to the Dad's Army bunch. Didn't inspire confidence.

@gigiflower Thanks Sam. It has been cooler today and I think we have got rain on the way.

@beryl Thanks Beryl. It was an unexpected bonus to get a look around the fire station in the middle of Sydney. All is quiet today on the fire front.

@hermann Thanks Sally.

Wow! Great captures of both the fire engine and the smoke from the fire. The horse seems totally undisturbed by the scene in the background. Powerful pic.

A wonderful capture of the fire engine!!
November 15th, 2014
Lovely pairing Babs, both have a great DOF and POV;)
November 15th, 2014
@epcello Thanks Erica. I think the horse is probably used to bushfires in our area by now. The fire is about 4 km away from where the horse is though, so he has got plenty of time to run if need be.

@quietpurplehaze @pcoulson Thank you both so much. We were so lucky to get an invitation into the fire station. the Dep commissioner must have thought we were tourists.

@onewing

The camera must have been the clue, Babs!!
November 15th, 2014
Very appropriate pairing. All those fires must be scary for anyone close.

So cute to hear about Will ringing you about the fires he saw from the plane. This is a good pairing, and definitely what Brisbane will see a lot of this summer. Today - 40 degrees!
November 16th, 2014
Great pairing Babs, but that fire's scary stuff.
November 16th, 2014
Another great one!! You've got this technique down pretty good!
November 16th, 2014
Excellent pairing
I will have to visit the fire station
I hope we dont have fires this season but today is very windy

Amazing shot of that old fire engine, and I love the composition with the horse in the front of the bush fire pic. Great pair!

@quietpurplehaze You are probably right Hazel. While we were talking to the Dep Commissioner he told us that his previous posting had been in the area where I live and was moved to Sydney on promotion. Small world.
November 16th, 2014
@kathiecb They are scary. Luckily the nearest one to our house has been about 2 km away and that was a few years ago now.
November 16th, 2014
@888rachel I heard on the news tonight about your 40 degree heat. The G20 people must have been melting.
November 16th, 2014
@golftragic This one was only a small one in comparison to some. It was deliberately lit by a 14 year old boy too. No come back on him either, just put on a 12 month good behaviour bond. Don't get me started on that subject.
November 16th, 2014
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. I am having fun with this theme.
November 16th, 2014
@annied It is a lovely fire station. All you have to do is stand outside with your camera and look like a tourist and they will let you in and show you around. It probably helps if you can adopt a Yorkshire accent too, ha ha.
November 16th, 2014
@tabarlett Thanks Tammy. I think this horse must have seen lots of bush fires because he wasn't bothered at all.
November 16th, 2014
@onewing I will practice the accent hahahaha - I can listen to Pauls voice

Kat
Fabulous captures and pairing. I think it is going to be a long summer indeed.
November 16th, 2014
@onewing Nor me!! We'd be singing from the same page anyway!!
November 17th, 2014
Great pairing.
