My two very dear friends Ann Marie and Elaine (RHS). This was afternoon tea at a lovely hotel to celebrate Elaine's birthday in October 2008. How happy we were not knowing we were soon to loose my darling Ann Marie to a brain tumour.
Elaine's dad died two weeks ago and she is busy organising the funeral trying to follow all the Covid rules. Sadly the funeral is next week - the day before Elaine's birthday this year. Elaine now lives in Cardiff, Wales and the funeral which is in Coventry is restricted to 30 so I will be unable to give my friend a hug at such a sad time.
I was searching my archives for more smiles when I came across images from this lovely celebration. We always had such happy times together and with Ann Marie there was always a reason for a party!! Such a lovely girl who was much loved by her family and many friends. My godson Michael who now lives in San Diego, USA is so much like his mum and sometimes you can almost see and hear Ann Marie in his smile and voice.
Awww, a nice memory but also sad for your friend. We could only have 10 people at my father-in-law's funeral a few months ago - such a strange send off as there would have been a lot of his old friends wanting to attend! Life is very strange at the moment
Such tough times. So sorry for her loss to a brain tumour - I have seen two friends go that way now and it's heartbreaking. Never old enough for such things.
So sorry for Elaine's loss too and the rules that mean you cannot support her in person. I am sure she will feel you near her regardless. Love transcends these barriers, but oh so hard to not have people physically at your side.
Beautiful smiles from happier times.
The power of photographs is to keep our memories alive. And the gift of friendship is priceless whether near or far. Such tough times we are in, but memories and friendships will pull us through...

I know only too well the effect Covid is having on funerals, I couldn't attend my fathers funeral last week.
