I can't get my head round today's topic Twilight Zone and the weather is awful - torrential rain so I am not going out. I decided to have a tidy up on my hard disc as I keep getting the message that its full and I need to find space. So I was going through deleting lots of pics - I used to be very bad and not delete anything - and I found my folder of Bass Rock. I did a photography day on the little island off Scotland called Bass Rock. No one lives there just thousands of Gannets - my favourite bird. This is my favourite shot - EVER!!
I was blown away with the beauty of the Gannets!! I thought I would share it with you - I hope you like it.
(If you have time look at it large)
Fabulous capture Pam and I can see why it's your favourite. It is a great shot! I know what you mean about clearing out old photos which I need to do too. I store my photos on 2 hard drives now Pam instead of my laptop. A fav!
Gorgeous capture,Pam,they look almost like figurines, the head markings are so perfect.I can see why it's your favourite shot!! ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,A fav for me,too!!
@cjainmd@sewsharyn@photoandi@elaine55@mcmary@elisasaeter@carolmw@nadines@janpenny@sxyrhoose@pixiemac WOW what a wonderful response to my favourite shot!! Thank you all for such lovely comments and all the Favs - I really appreciate them all!! This shot is one of a series I took of these two gannets doing their mating dance. It is so beautiful to see as they rub their heads round each other. The trip to Bass Rock was fabulous as an experience getting so close to these birds but also a fantastic photo oportunity to see how they live. It was a truely magical day as the weather had been bad all week and the boat had been unable to land on the Island. On that day the sun shone and the sea was calm!!
@sailingmusic@annethomson@swilde@yonnie@rsi@libertylady many thanks to you all for your lovely comments which are very much appreciated! Thanks for the Favs Myrna, Sue, Yvonne and Alice you are all very kind!
Wow thanks Myrna for letting me know it's on the PP! I am so thrilled that my favourite shot has made it there! That means a lot to me! I haven't been on PP for ages and its lovely to have your work recognised!
Dear Pam, this moving photo caught my eye on the suggestions page and when I read the information about you and your photography too, I had to start following you. I haven't had -or insisted on-enough time for my own photography but your words have inspired. Thanks for your lovely work and for being so open about your passion for taking pictures? I'm happily following you (from the States) now and this photo is a FAV!

Absolutely stunning shot of one of the most awe inspiring birds in the British Isles:-)
I envy you having a day on photographing Bass Rock - one of my favourite places, although only ever been around it in a boat.
The thrill of the Gannets diving around you leaves you speechless :-)
A definite Fav
Wow, I can imagine this being one of your most favorite shots. It's gorgeous! Beautiful blue and green tones bringing out the very well detailed birds like that.

Fabulous gannet shot - such graceful birds! Bass Rock is still on my wish list - our boat was cancelled the day we were meant to go out - too choppy - even though it was a glorious day! : ) fav
