27th October 2013 Orchid watercolour

I realised this morning that all my orchids needed to be fed and watered so I put them all into the sink to stand for a while. Some are in their rest period with no flowers but three are in flower at the moment. As I don't know where to find a scarecrow which is the word of the day I decided to have some flower shots for a change!!

This is my yellow orchid and I have given it a watercolour filter as I love the effect!!

Yesterday was my 300th shot and I didn't even realise it!! Only 65 days to go - WOW!!!
Beautiful colour and very nice subtle effect!

Love the watercolour effect.......I have some lovely orchids, but only one in flower at the moment. Do you think you will go for year two? I am on shot 302...but I am thinking I am going to have a big hole in life and too much time on my hands without 365!

@pixiemac I can't imagine not doing 365!! It has become such a great part of my life - it really did revitalise my love of phtotography and I have learnt so much. It has made me realise how much there is still to learn!! Also i have made so many friends on here - it really is such a lovely supportive community I think I would feel lost if I didn't catch up with everyone at least now and then. Perhaps I won't do a shot every day - not sure at the moment. I do want to learn some new techniques. As I am retired I do have the time to indulge this wonderful hobby!! I just wish I could earn some money at it!! LOL!!

What an amazing looking orchid. Got my first one ever this year, fingers crossed it will survive.

I love orchids - they are the only plants that don't die on me! I can drop them, forget to water them and generally be the most un-greenfingered person in the world... yet they still flower for me! : ))

Jo
Great orchid shot, it reminds me that I need to replace two that live in my bathroom!

Very pretty, Pam. I love orchids, but I don't think I could ever grow them with my brown thumbs!!!

Hi Pam here is a little info that I posted on ICM for Jo yesterday - hope it helps if you want to give it a go! : )) Stick your camera on manual and select a slowish shutter speed and a narrow aperture! I used 1/6 sec and f/22 for this shot but you may need to experiment with the shutter speed /aperture depending on the light! As you press the shutter move the camera smoothly up or down to create the vertical ICM. This works well for trees. Horizontal ICM works well at the beach for example! It's a bit hit and miss but a lot of fun!!
