Inspiration completely failed me today and as I was sitting wondering what to do for my shot my little robin came down to say hello!! I just can't resist him!! Of course he does look better large!!
Many thanks for all your lovely comments and good wishes for Emma on her 21st - she loves the photo!! Miracles do happen!! LOL!!
7/11/13 On the PP!! Many thanks for all your great comments and Favs which got him there - very much appreciated!!
@darrenboyj@beryl@rosiekind@lucypics Many thanks for your wonderful response to my shot - I was feeling a bit low today and you have all cheered me up!! Thanks for the Favs!!
@joydnichols Jodi many thanks for your comments and Fav but I don't think you clicked the fav button.
@scolgs Snow - what snow? We are not having any this year!! All that chaos on the roads - we just don't cope well with weather here in the UK do we? Thanks for the Fav Sarah!!
@maggiemae Many thanks for the Fav!! I don't think the robin can see me Maggiemae. I am sitting in my lounge and shooting through the patio doors which are closed. When I went out into the garden and checked the reflection on the window makes it look like a mirror. I think the robin thinks there is another robin looking at him.
Pam, what a stunning shot, f♥v!
Hope you are feeling a little better today, knowing we are heading for winter seems to be getting people :(
Congratulations on PP!!
Hi Pam, I came to visit your album today because I remembered getting a glimpse of this beautiful image and I wanted to study your EXIF data to see if I could use it to begin my attempt at bird photography. Why do you have your ISO set so high when you photographed this in the morning, in what appears to be good sunlight? Thanks for any tips . . .
Hi Junko I hope I can be of help. These shots I have been taking of my robin are taken from inside my house in my lounge. There is a covered decking outside the window which make the room although south facing very dark. As I am taking shots through the window it is better not to have bright sunshine as there is reflection. I take a few test shots before I start - focusing on the feeder and check to make sure my histogram looks ok and that I am not blowing any highlights. I am hoping to catch the robin in flight so trying to get as much light as possible. If I am outside in bright light the ISO would be nowhere near this but for a flight shot taken ouside I would probably try ISO 400-640 - again check your histogram. If you want a shot where the bird is stationary you probably don't need the ISO so high. I normally use F/7.1 for my bird shots as it gives me a bit more dof. Again it all depends on the available light. The good thing is as I have the Canon 5D mark 11 which is full frame I can crop in quite tight and not loose any quality. In LR I am able to get rid of any noise caused by using a high ISO. I hope I haven't confused you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
