Finlay in the garden

Finlay enjoying himself in the garden yesterday. He is making a good recovery from his bad foot where he lost a claw. I had to stop the penicillin as it upset his tummy. Walking round the garden with him in the middle of the night while he ate grass and kept being sick made up my mind on that one.
He is still licking it every now and then but definitely not limping any more. He still will not let me get a close look at it.

Uploaded for my extras album
Hope Finlay recovers soon. Poor baby

Licking helps recovery I think doesn’t it? Looks a delightful place you are staying in....can you keep staying there while this crisis is on?

This is simply precious! But OMG, I see what you mean about hilly!!! SO NOT your terrain! Yikes!

@happypat Sorry but I felt a need to correct this myth. Licking wounds introduces bacteria that can cause infection. It was once widely thought to
promote healing but that is not accurate.

Oh dear, missed hearing about that one. What happened?

@golftragic not sure how it happened Marnie. Finlay was holding his paw up on the morning of our drive to Devon. He wouldn’t let me look closely at it so bathed it in salt water. The next couple of days he licked and chewed his foot and was limping badly. I managed to find a vet who would see him down here and she could see he had lost his claw! No idea how he did it. Anti inflammatory and antibiotic foot wash - total £70. Still licking and limping 3 days later so I went back to vets and got penicillin - another £35! (They know how to charge) This upset his tummy so I stopped it after couple of days, he still licks it now and then but not limping so I think it is getting better!

Oh gosh, sorry to hear all that doggy drama. He must’ve got the caw caught as u say. As for vets, they charge like wounded bulls if they’re like ours. After paying out a small fortune for our lovely Sheba I took out pet insurance for Maggie while she was still young enough to be feasible. Been grateful ever since.
