100 Strangers : No. 35 : Kirsty

It was Nottingham Pride this weekend. a popular event in the Nottingham summer calendar.

This is where I met Kirsty. She was sat on the step of a doorway in Hockley.

Kirsty was dog sitting a really cute Yorkshire Terrier named Bailey.

"Why was Kirsty sat in a doorway dog sitting?" I hear you ask.

Well Kirsty's best friend Sue is a musician and was performing in the street a few metres away from Sue.

I told Kirsty, I'd took a picture of Sue on the Pride Parade and I liked her dog.

When I asked Kirsty for a photo, Kirsty was happy to sit for me (well she really was actually sitting...if you see what I mean),

Sue's dog was named Bailey and was saying hello to me and jumping on my knees as I was photographing Kirsty.

Kirsty's friend was Sue Warren a local singer, songwriter and ukulele player

Sue's website is here

www.suewarrenmusic.com

Kirsty gave me her email address and I told her I would email her some pictures form our photo shoot. I hope Kirsty likes this shot and the images I sent to her.

I edited this image in Rawtherapee and decided to convert it to mono as the mono gives a nice urban feel to the image. Sue's smile also lifts the image and gives it high impact.

Thanks for being a stranger in my series Kirsty :)

FOOTNOTE: I have received feedback from Kirsty and she thinks the four images I sent to her are great :) . It is really nice when the person you took a photo of likes the photos :)

This picture is number 35 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

Great portrait shot of this nice lady. No wonder she liked what you sent her. I always enjoy reading your narrative on each shot. Makes them more lifelike. Fav.

Now, like me, you also have a portrait of somebody dogsitting a dog - but Bailey is not visible! Yes, nice smile.

This is my favourite of your Pride pictures, just because - amid all the noise and madness and colour - you found a quiet moment and produced a portrait so reflective of this woman's character.
