Arnold Methodist Church, Nottingham in Black and White

This was shot straight into the sun , so there is a little bit of flare creeping into the photo.

I think a B/W image works slightly better than the colour image in this case.

I've done a few shots of St. Mary's church, Arnold in my 365, so I thought it is about time I posted an image of another local church.

Some local people call the church the 'gasometer', because of it's unusual design. The pointed roof building to the left of the frame is the church hall.

The church is in the heart of the town centre. If you use the zebra crossing and turn left when passing the church you arrive at the market cafe and tattoo shop (see - http://365project.org/phil_howcroft/365/2011-05-04 and http://365project.org/phil_howcroft/365/2011-04-06 )

I quite like he B/W conversion, I think I've got a bit of infra red conversion in the trees :)

This church definitely has a contemporary informal feel. The neighboring tree looks like it is covered in blossoms. Or are those the leaves in B&W? Anyway it is a great shot of a place of worship and looks miles from the tattoo shop.

Neat capture! I love the local name the gasometer for the church, I always laugh when I hear the term Mersey Funnel but Paddy's Wigwam leaves me unmoved although I see what they mean, The white trees are fab.

Good capture. I would never have guessed it for a Church - tho I think some of those windows look like stained glass.

Nice B/W shot. I particularly like the dappled shadows across the road.

Just perfect for B/W photo ! The church almost look round...is it ? The lovely tree softens the harshness of the building too.

I liek the effect on the tree, how do you get IR pictures... do youhave a special lens?

@allie912 Thanks Allison, the leaves are green, I have photoshop elements and when you convert to black and white there is an option have an infra red effect ...B/W infra red makes foliage / greens appear white :)...the tattoo shop is just around the corner !!

@robinmersh Thanks Robin, you can convert a DSLR to do infra red photography or you can create the effect in post processing , this was post processed

@phil_howcroft Haha I know that feeling. I can almost see Holly rolling her eyes and sighing when I stop to take yet another shot....
