When I went to Bolton on Saturday I brought my late Dad's slides, projector and projector screen back home to Nottingham
I intend to scan the slides (I bought a slide scanner from Aldi) and build up a little archive of old 'Howcroft' pictures.
To my surprise the projector still worked. It must be 40 something years old and the bulb sprung in life at a click of the switch and a wiggle of the old plug.
This is a shot of a slide projected onto the screen. It's me on Blackpool beach, as a very young 4 year old boy. Curly mop, 'best shirt' , knitted cardigan and a rubber bucket and spade.
Not the best of pics, but I'm hoping the scanner and a bit of touch up editing should get me a decent set of 'archived digital pictures'.
I might share some of the pics (once scanned and edited) on here.
I'll catch up with all my commenting tomorrow.
Does this count as a selfie ?
3 good things (Sunday)
1) Projector worked
2) Bought 'his' and 'hers' winter coats....'North Face' in Nottingham....bargain 'sale price' !!! Will be good for those cold winter mornings and nights walking a little whippet !
Oh quite a sweetie Phil, love the curly hair but I bet you hated it at the time! Fascinating to watch these old pictures & a priceless treasure to look at over the years. I bet your daughters loved seeing these!!
very cute shot of you there Phil. Glad the projector worked and you get to see these shots again. Hurrah for the rain not arriving... it did here, but i didn't get wet!!
Love it Phil! You were so sweet! ( and still are of course . . :)). Weren't Dads great with their photographs, we used to have slide shows for special occasions and had to wait patiently while he got them the right way up!
Great shot. I too remember the screen shows we used to have set up to watch. Never very well organised, and I was the boy in charge of the light switch between 3 1/2 minute film rolls! The slide shows were better, but always mountain landscapes I recall..!
A technological miracle. Sometimes the oldies are the best. Speaking of oldies, nothing beats the feeling you get looking at old photos as the subjects gaze back at you. It is like stepping back in time. I for one will look forward to more pictures of young Phil and his world.
@judithg thanks judith, you can really see 'current phil'...in 'little phil' :) ..and i haven't changed ...lol....thanks for the compliment ...i think :)
@allie912 thanks allison, i installed the slide scanner this afternoon and dis some scans of my university graduation pics....the scanner is quick but the images are a tad grainy...although that is to be expected given the size of a slide !!!
