Every New Year's Day we watch the The Vienna New Year's Concert (Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker) on BBC 2 . It is an annual concert of classical music performed by the Vienna Philharmonic on the morning of New Year's Day in Vienna, Austria.
We watch it with a bottle of champagne and cheese and biscuits (and other tasty morsels)
In recent years I have took a photo of our champagne and posted it here.
It was a surreal concert, the orchestra played to an empty hall ... The beautiful Grand Hall, also called the Golden Hall.
Happy New Year to all my friends and followers. Thanks to everyone who has ever viewed, faved or commented on my photos.

We watch it too, but we don't drink champagne! We went to a concert in that hall a few years ago and, yes, the empty room yesterday looked surreal. BTW, excellent photo, so sharp and luminous.
Cheers, enjoy your champagne. A great shot to greet with the New Year. May it bring you lots of health and happiness. I have watched the Vienna New Year concert every year for at least 50 years without fail. When I could not watch it live I used to record it and watch it later. This year it was surreal with all the empty seats.
We also alway watch the concert but sadly this year only got half way & switched over to favourite walks. The music was lovely as usual but it lacked the festive atmosphere I thought without the audience. Shouldn’t be so I know as the music was just as lovely but I loved the ballet bits & watching the faces of the audience too. We are lightweights! 🤣
Happy New Year Phil.
