On Friday I went for a walk into Nottingham city centre with my whippet, Ruby. We had a walk around the city centre and while there, I met Hildur.
Hildur was outside the Newton Building at Nottingham Trent University, taking photos of the beautiful building with her phone. Ruby and I approached her and I asked her if she was a student at the Uni’
Hildur told me she was a new student and was starting in weeks time, she would be studying for her Masters degree in Marketing. I asked Hildur about her accent and she told me she was from Reykjavík, Iceland. She would be commuting from Derby to Nottingham (her Icelandic boyfriend lives in Derby).
We than had a chat about the beautiful Newton building, the merits of Derby and Nottingham city centres and her commute from Derby to Nottingham
When I asked Hildur for a photo she thought it was a cool idea and we used the building as a backdrop for her photo.
Hildur emailed me later that evening asking me to send her some photos from the shoot, so I sent her some of the beautiful photos I took of her.
She really is beautiful and you've captured that smile so well. I can't believe you've approached and photographed 276 complete strangers! What a great project this has been!
Fav. The perfect portrait. Super focus and a glorious subject. Fav. Michaela, my granddaughter will be starting her university course in two weeks time.
@newbank thanks . I got two more strangers from this visit to town and two more at Pride yesterday. They are all good back stories too . It takes me a while to post them as the write up takes a bit of thought and time 🤔💭
She is lovely and looks like a doll !
On another note: What's your philosophy on doing portraits? Also, where can I get a good model release?
