Long Tailed Visitor by phil_sandford

Long Tailed Visitor

Having said previously on this project, that the Long Tailed Tit appears to visit 'en-masse,' this morning, this solo bird was all alone, flitting between the fat balls (and being bullied by the Starlings), and the peanuts.

We have only seen the Long Tailed Tits since last summer; have never had the pleasure before; I hope they continue to visit, they are quite gorgeous

Beautiful !

He is a beautiful bird! So you leave the peanuts in their shells for this feeder?! I expect it takes a lot of effort to finally get to the nuts inside the shells. Our squirrels would tear the feeder down if I did that. Smile.

@louannwarren No, the nuts are out of the shells; they're like that when they come out of the bag, dark brown; what you can see, with the white, is where the birds (and the squirrles) have been nibbling.

@phil_sandford Ah, my eyes deceived me! The feeder does look sturdy enough to handle the squirrels!

@louannwarren They eat everything I put out for the birds; eventually they'd eat through the steel mesh of this feeder. Tree rats the lot of 'em :-)

These birds are so tiny , it's a wonder they survive the cold weather. Good capture.

That's a lot of nuts for such a small bird. I hope he shared 😊 Nicely captured image 👍
