The Lock up by pusspup

The Lock up

Made to a standard design in 1857,
Behind the house is the original lock-up which dates from 1857. It is a weatherboard box with a small semicircular opening in the door so that the policeman could see if his prisoner, usually put in for drunkenness, was sobering up, and pass in food. The lock-up received National Trust Recorded Listing status in 1974 and is now a small exhibition area for pottery and photography.

Lovely captured. Good idea that it is being preserved. I used the focal zoom of Picasso to blurr the edges of my picture of yesterday.

Very fine composition. The rust and shadows truly add to this. Glad to see it saved and cherished now.

I like the flowers in the shot. A nice contrast between beauty and prison.
